AMISL adopted as method to develop its products and to address its aims and results the Action Research approach (AR). The AR is " a way of self-reflective enquiry carried on by participants in social environments in order to develop rationality and justice of their social or educational praxis, as also the comprehension both of the aforesaid praxis and the contexts in which these praxis take place." (Cohen, Manion: 1984)
AR is "the systematic study of attempts to change and improve educational practice by groups of participants by means of their own practical actions and by means of their own reflections upon the effects of those actions". (Ebbutt: 1985).
AR is "a methodology that stretches to conjugate theory and praxis, finalizing the research to an action and undertaking this action with the aim to produce a transformation inside the educational, psychological and social contexts, according to structured criteria, that concur to calibrate this transformation, being aware of it, checking it, estimating it and redefining it periodically in order to render it more and more effective" (Aluffi Pentini, Anna: 2001).

The AR method usually is adopted inside educative and scholastic environments, by teachers and didactic coordinators in order to improve the quality of the teaching. Our effort is to adapt the method to the context of the services for elder people, through the involvement of the operators who work in that services.
